How to Apply for SSI Disability Benefits
Social Security has made significant changes in the way it processes applications for Social Security disability claims. One of these changes has been to allow some claimants to file an application for benefits online.
How to Apply for Disability Benefits in Person or via Telephone
One word of caution, however. Despite what some other websites are stating, you cannot complete a claim for Title 16 Supplemental Security Income, or SSI, benefits online. You can start the process online, however. To apply for SSI benefits, you can:
- Complete the Adult Disability Report online and schedule an appointment to complete the SSI application; or
- Schedule an appointment with your local office to complete the application process.
