Hi, I’m Nick Ortiz. I’m a personal injury attorney in the state of Florida. Today, we’re going to talk to you about bike accidents. If you or a loved one has been involved in a bicycle accident then you’ve likely suffered serious injuries. Injuries from a bicycle accident may include road rash, facial fractures and disfigurement, broken bones and burns, spinal cord injuries, or even a traumatic brain injury, or TBI for short.
Here at our office, we know that a bicycle accident can have devastating impact on you and your family. You may have unpaid medical bills and are worried about how those are going to get paid. You may have taken a lot of time off work and you’re not being compensated for that. You may be suffering a lot of pain and suffering and you should be compensated for that as well.
With all of these things you very likely have a personal injury claim against the at-fault driver who caused the accident but, keep in mind that an insurance company does not have your best interests in mind. At the end of the day, it’s the injured parties burden of proof to prove negligence.
Examples of negligence include unsafe lane changes by the at-fault driver, car doors opening unexpectedly, maybe a DUI, sudden and unexpected stops, left turn accidents right in front of you, speeding, dangerous road conditions. In fact, you may even have a claim if there was no direct impact between you and the at-fault driver’s vehicle. For example, if a driver of a car pulls out right in front of you and you have to drop your bike, and you hit the ground. Even if you didn’t hit that car, because of their negligence in pulling out in front of you, you may have a claim against that driver.
Because these claims can be complicated for those types of reasons, I encourage you to give our office a call at 850-898-9904 to discuss your legal rights. We look forward to hearing from you.
