Santa Rosa County, Florida – The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is searching for the driver of a black Chevrolet sedan who left the scene of an accident on Highway 98. The accident occurred near Sound Hammock Drive, at approximately 5:20 p.m. on Wednesday night. No injuries have been reported. According to the FHP’s press release, the at-fault driver changed seats with his female passenger, who asked the victim not to report the accident because the driver would go to jail. She then proceeded to drive away. The at-fault driver is reported to be a white male in his 20s, with a heavier build, long blond hair, a beard, and the word “way” is tattooed on his chest.
The FHP has asked anyone with information related to the accident to contact the Florida Highway Patrol (850-484-5000) or Santa Rosa Crime Stoppers (850-437-STOP).
What Would You Do?
Knowing exactly what to do after an accident can save valuable time, which may mean the difference between life and death. At the very least, having a basic understanding of how to proceed in the moments after you’ve been involved in a car, motorcycle, bicycle, or truck accident may help you to avoid being held responsible for the negligence of another party. While law enforcement may take a considerable amount of time sorting through the details of accidents like those described above, the parties involved may have had mere seconds to make potentially life-altering decisions. It can be difficult to think quickly and clearly in the immediate aftermath of an accident, so it’s important for all drivers to memorize a plan of action that can be taken if an accident occurs. In this short video, I provide a basic framework for steps you should take if you’re involved in an accident.
